Analysis five

Since I saw the movie before I started reading the book I thought I knew exactly what would happen in the end... But little did I know. The ending of this book was for sure not the same as in the movie. And I have to say I prefer the end the movie gave. It was more of a happy ending in the move then in the book. I've also come to the conclusion that this book is really sad. There isn't many things that happens in the book that is joyful, everything is about the dreadful past or the dreadful present where they can't seem to understand the world. Pretty deep actually, normally I don't like sad books but this one I liked. I didn't even realize just how sad this story actually is until the end. Especially now when it ended far more worse then the film. 

As I told you just before I don't normally read this kind of books, so my answer to the question how this book is compared to others in the same genre would be kind of misleading. But I do read a lot of books, so I can guess. And my guess is that, from what I know, books that are based on a true story always is more touching. And that I can sign on to, because this book was indeed touching. Somehow I find it easier to be touched and cry to love stories, so this time I didn't get touched to such an extent that I cried. But I got moved, and I felt helpless, for not being able to change what happened in the past. Whenever I hear about the second world war, and about the awful thing Hitler did to the Jews, I just wish I could have been there to do something. I know it would have been impossible, 'cause there already were people there that tried to help but got killed for it. So it's pretty vain to think that I could have changed anything, but that doesn't stop me from feeling somewhat guilty. 

The truth or a white lie? (analysis four)

I think the major conflict in this story is about wether you should forget the past and just move on for the sake of some peace and quiet or to lift the past up to the surface to be able to analyze it and really work with your past. Either way is right and wrong. Maybe the past is so dreadful that you just can't handle bringing it up, hence it would only make the wounds worse. But at the same time it might just be what you need to do to get on with your life... 

Sarah choose to forget and build a new life, but the truth came out evetually. Even though the truth came out when Sarah was dead, it still came out and her family that knew nothing got to know a whole new side of the person they thought they knew. But maybe, just maybe that was for the best, the truth could have done more harm back then, then it did now... who knows?

The theme of the book, is according to me, the same as the major conflict. It's about telling the truth or white lies. If I got the question wether I would prefer the truth or a white lie, I would just say the truth of course. But if you really think about it, it's not an easy question to answer, especially not in Sarah's case. Sometimes the truth would just hurt too much... but wouldn't it hurt more if the truth came out when the white lie already was said. I'm so ambivalent in this question. And I think that's what the Author wanted us to think about, so that's why I've come to the conclusion that: "The truth or a white lie" is the theme.

The first couple of chapters are divided the way that every other is from the past and present time. But later on in the book that stops, and after that it's the present time you get to follow. The language that Rosnay (the author) has used is the same in both past and present time. Since the book only reflects two minds, and one of them for just a few chapters I find it hard to see a difference in the language. But as far as I'm concerned the language doesn't change a bit, i.e remains the same through out the book. Maybe that's a problem, for it would be natural for the past to be written in a more old fashioned way. 

Analysis three

This story takes place i France both in the past (1942) and in current time. I think that the location, France, enhance the story because they are in the same area as they are talking about. It makes it more real and more trustworthy that the characters are living in the country where this roundup actually took place during the second world war. 

I don't think that an occurrence like this could happen in Sweden. We learn from our mistakes, at the same time I think that it could occur but in a different way. Unfortunately I'm convinced that we will make our mistakes again, and things will go wrong. Just look at Sverigedemokraterna, even though they aren't that big it's still a threat and it shows that some people sympathise with their thoughts. The society today would not accept something like that. Not just the people with the power, but the grass roots wouldn't accept it. I think Sweden's society are too well educated to just go with the flow and follow a leader of that kind without questioning it. Even though there always will exist people that just would go with the flow, the majority would realise that something's not right and act against it. It this for example would have happen in Sweden today, social media like twitter for instance would have played a very important role and hopefully prevented an event like this.

I think that Tatiana De Rosnay, the author, focus much on feelings and on the environment. She's very good with details on how people look and I always get the feeling that I know exactly how the characters feel at different situations, which is rare. 

Before I started reading this book I had no idea that this so called roundup ever existed in France. The book is based on a true story but it's a fictional account of littlle known factual events that took place in Paris 1942 surrounding the vel d'hiv roundup.

Analysis two

The protagonist is in this book Sarah, she is very young but extremely brave. She keeps on fighting for her mother and brother even though she knows it probably not going to lead somewhere. She does it just to make her mother stay alive. I happen to know that she won't always be this positive or strong (I have seen the  movie) but she will eventually turn more depressed and actually get sick. It's the horrible circumstances that makes her sick. 

The antagonist is this far in the book the french police. There isn't one person you can blame yet, but a whole group. The french police is the enemy and the evil ones. I'm not sure though, if the french men know that. They have no knowledge about whats going on, so they don't really know that their own police is the ones to blame for all these horrible things. I base this on the fact that the german police didn't tell the french police to do all of the dreadful stuff they are doing. The french police got an order, but did much more then to just obey... They went further. 

It would feel very wrong to say that I can relate to Sarahs problems, because I can't. I haven't even been close to having it as bad as she has it. And I don't think that I or the rest of us that wasn't in the war will ever understand what they went through. When you are reading the part that is written in current time, I find that Julias husbands grandma reminds me of my own grandma. But I'm sorry to say that the similarities with people I know and the ones in the book ends right there. 

If you try to think about how the Jews had it there at the camp, you can also try to imagine yourself there... And then try imagine how you would have reacted, what you would have done. It's hard. But when you've done that you'll see that Sarah and the other Jews you read  about, that their actions is plausible. 

I think that the choices you make in a matter of life and death are not to reflect what kind of person you are. It's a human instinct to do everything you can to survive. It would be weird if you didn't. So let's say Sarah makes a choise to do something she knows is wrong and maybe cruel but she has to do it to survive. And everybody else is dong what they can to survive. Then I would have sympathy for her actions and I would probably have done the same thing...

Sarah's Key

I'm reading a book called "Sarah's Key" it's written by Tatiana de Rosnay. You might be familiar with the name because it's now a major motion picture that many people are talking about.

I have now read 19 chapters, it's not as much as it seems, the chapters are really short. Since I already seen the movie I kind of knew what to expect from the story. Every other chapter is about what happened in the past and then there is the "reality", or should I say our time. The book begins with the past, they are in Paris July 1942. Which means that the second world war was at it's peak. From the movie I knew that this wasn't going to be a feel-good book, and 19 chapters later that is confirmed. It's actually quit a sad book, and it's based on a true story. It's about when the French police take all the Jews to a "camp", they say it was a order from Gestapo (The German police), but it turns out the French police did more dreadful things then the German police ordered... Which is why the Frenchmen don't know much about the occurrence or they don't want to talk about it. They are ashamed. 

When you are reading about the past it's written in third person, someone else is telling me what happened to them back then. In our time it's written like a diary, Julia the head character is writing about herself with her thoughts. I don't think the story would be improved by an other perspective but it would be interesting to read the same story from a Frenchman that all of a sudden lost all his Jewish friends. We always focus on how awful it must have been for the Jews, which we do with all right, but it can't have been easy being the "accepted one" either. They didn't understand more about what was going on then the Jews did. I mean it must be strange to all of a sudden have a policeman tell you that a certain "rase" (that they called it) is no longer accepted in the society so if you want to survive you've got to ignore and expose the jews... 

But as I said, I wouldn't want the book to have an other writing perspective because then I think the book would appear too much as a fact book from the war. This book is still a story, which make the fact easy to grasp and that contributes to a great flow. 

Right now I'm at the point in the book where the girl with her family in the past have been at the camp for some days. They don't know how many days because they've been there with almost no food or water and are loosing their consiousness. The girl keeps thinking about her little brother that she locked in, a hidden small room in a wall to hid him from the police. But what she didn't know was that they would be removed from their home and never come back. So the little brother was locked in that wall with minimum water, no food, a flashlight that would soon run out and the worst of all... There was very little oxygen in that room and there was no way to lock that door up from the inside. So the girl and her parents was full of remorse. Would they come home soon? Would their son/ little brother survive? 

As I told you before I've seen the movie and therefore I know what will happen so to predict the story wouldn't be fair. 

I'm really looking forward reading this book, from experience I know that the books are always better then the movies and since the movie was fantastic I feel that this can either be an extremely good book, or maybe not reach my expectations.... because they are high.

Dag fem.

Denna vecka har varit otroligt kul och givande. Jag har lärt mig så mycket att det inte går att beskriva, det handlar inte bara om "stora" lärdomar utan även små saker som att jag numera skriver mycket snabbare på datorn. Jag har skrivit så extremt mycket på datorn vilket jag i vanliga fall inte brukar göra så då verkligen dansar fingrarna fram över tangentbordet. Något man faktiskt har nytta av i princip allt man gör på en dator... Och något jag upptäckt under min praktik är att allt är så digitalt. När jag fick uppgiften att skriva en lista på ekologiska skönhetsprodukter så tog jag fram papper och penna för anteckna det jag hittar på Internet. Men det skulle jag ju tydligen inte inte göra, då jag ändå skulle skicka resultatet till Edit. Jag tänkte då att "Men hon sitter ju framför mig så kan jag inte bara ge henne den färdiga listan?". Men hon skulle ju då i sin tur behöva skriva in det digitalt då det i slut ändan ska hamna online. Det här kanske är självklart för vissa, och det är det för mig också, nu i alla fall. Alltid lär man sig något. :)


jag måste säga att det känns lite tråkigt att behöva lämna Livinggreen nu efter en vecka. Det tar ungefär en vecka att komma in i arbetet ordentligt, så jag känner att det hade varit väldigt kul att få fortsätta ett tag till. 


Allt som allt är jag tacksam för att jag fått chansen att praktisera, då jag tycker att man lär sig så himla mycket mer en vecka på "jobbet" än en vecka i skolan. Misstolka mig rätt, man lär sig otroligt mycket i skolan men nu under praktikveckan fick man en annan slags kunskap. Och det är blandningen av dem kunskaperna som jag tror är extremt lyckad. 


Självklart är inte allt kul hela tiden. Jag tror att alla jobb har sina ups and downs. Dagarna på detta jobb var längre, inga raster och man satt mycket stilla. Så det gäller att man gillar vad man sysslar med så att fördelarna väger upp nackdelarna i jobbet. Tror jag har sagt tillräckligt mycket positivt om min praktikvecka hos Livinggreen så jag ska inte börja igen, jag avslutar istället detta sista blogginlägg kort och gott med dessa ord: ROLIGT. GIVANDE. KUNSKAP. ERFARENHET. 


Tack för mig så ses vi igen nästa år när jag börjar andra ring och har hela TVÅ veckors praktik! Vem vet var jag hamnar då? En sak som är klar i alla fall är att jag redan ser fram emot dem veckorna.

Dag fyra

Dag fyra. Idag började dagen med ett möte/planering med Lina. Jag har jobbat med henne förut eftersom jag har varit med och hjälpt till på ett par av Livinggreens event, så det var kul att få träffa henne igen. Det är ju mest Edit och den personen som är med på mötet som pratar och så lyssnar jag lyhört. Men idag var det lite skillnad, jag var även delaktig i planeringen och kom med lite åsikter. Jag ska även vara med på detta event som kommer nu i mars. Det kommer bli ett grymt event! Det man märker när man pratar med eventfixare som Lina är att det är så mycket mer att tänka på än det självklara. För att nämna något: Sponsorerna ska dem ha internet, eluttag, finns det? Hur stor plats tar borden och skyltning upp? Kommer det bildas kö på vägen in? Var ska gästerna hänga sina ytterkläder? Finns det toalett i lokalen? Finns det tillgång till vatten? är det handikapp anpassat? Vem ska prata först på scen? Hur länge ska man prata på scen? Ska det serveras mat? Var ska maten förvaras? Hur ska man hantera disken? När ska gästerna få goodiebagen, på väg in eller ut? etc, etc!! Den här listan kan göras MYCKET lång! Sådant här tycker jag är otroligt kul att hålla på med, så det var en bra start på dagen.

Jag fick även uppgiften att skriva en intervju till mig själv. Det är inte helt enkelt att ställa vettiga frågor till sig själv, det är garanterat enklare att besvara frågor än att komma på dem upptäckte jag. Resultatet kommer förhoppningsvis vara klart i morgon och jag kommer så klart att lägga upp den här då. Stay tuned! :) 

Jag gjorde en liten intervju med Edit (min handledare och grundare för Livinggreen) om den globala ekonomin. Det är skolan som har gjort frågorna. Här kommer den:

Hur har ert företag påverkats av det världsekonomiska läget de senaste åren och har ni börjat känna av att det vänder uppåt? Edits svar: Livinggreen har funnits i tre år, vilket är lika med ett ungt företag. Det innebär att man inte har hunnit märka några sådana skillnader. Jag har alltså inte märk någon större skillnad varken upp eller ner, jag kan heller inte riktigt hålla med om att ekonomin  håller på att vända uppåt. För det gör den inte. 

Vad behöver våra politiska makthavare göra för att det ska bli enklare att driva företag i Sverige? (t.ex. ekonomiska reformer) Edits svar: Det ska vara enkelt och det ska löna sig att starta ett företag. Det behövs även bra stöd för hinder som juridik, ekonomi och finansiering. Jag ser även ett stort behov av bra förebilder på marknaden. 

På vilket sätt kan ert företag dra nytta av den ökade globaliserade ekonomin? Edits svar: En globaliserad ekonomi gör att gränserna suddas ut och vi kan faktiskt ha hela världen som publik med hjälp av Google translate och digitala medier. Och det bidrar ju på ett eller annat sätt till något positivt för Livinggreen.

Företagsklimatet i Sverige

Igår kunde jag inte svara på en utav frågorna så jag lovade att återkomma med det svaret idag... so here it goes! :)

Vad anser vd:n om företagsklimatet i Sverige idag? Edit anser att Sveriges företagsklimat är bra för dem som vill. Är man bara villig att jobba hårt och ibland kanske anpassa sig efter samhället så kommer allt gå bra. Vill man se problem så blir det problem. Vill man se möjligheter så skapas det möjligheter. Något som Edit också påpekade var att nätverket är otroligt viktigt. Så pass att det kan vara avgörande för överlevnaden för ett företag. Något man kanske inte inser som ung, men det är alltså viktigt att tänka långsiktigt och börja blida sig ett kontaktnät och också börja vårda kontakterna redan nu på gymnasie tid.

Dag tre.

Day three. Today I have been working with the same blog list as usual, the range of blogs out there are extreme! The research I did about eco beauty products is ready now, my first "real" research and it went well! I also started with this new project which I can't tell you about just yet! Really exciting! And of course I had a lunch meeting, or Edit had and I followed. I have to say I really like lunch meetings, such a nice way to combine work and pleasure!

Edit and I had a discussion about what's the most important to think about for a new entrepreneur. And she thinks it's really important to like or actually LOVE what you are doing. You have to have a passion for it, because then the heavy work won't feel as heavy. To be prepared to live with your work 24/7 is also very important, especially in the first couple of years when the company still is a little "baby" that has to be fed with work, work, WORK!

What quality a entrepreneur needs to have is the ability to sell an idea. If you have ideas that are exceptionally great, you also have to be able to sell it to others. Make others believe in it. If you can't do that it doesn't matter that the idea is great. But if you turn it the other way around. The idea is good, but not really something special... but you can sell it like a God! Then you will have all the chances in the world to become SUCCESSFUL! Stubborn as hell and creative is among the first listed qualification for an entrepreneur as well. 

Now, if you are wondering why I am writing this post in english it's because I had to. Have to obey the orders from school you know! :)

Dag två.

Dag två. Idag har jag fått jobba med samma blogglista som igår och varit på lunchmöte men inte nog med det, jag har även fått jobba på en "plocksida" som det så fint heter. Jag skulle kunna babbla på hur mycket som helst om vad jag gör och om vad jag lär mig, men efter som att denna blogg är ett skolprojet måste jag svara på dagens frågor. Här kommer dem.

Living Green är startat av Edit Künstlicher och drivs även av Edit. Det finns med andra ord inga anställda vilket är helt otroligt med tanke på hur bra det går för företaget och hur mycket det är att göra. Så mycket respekt för superkvinnan Edit! :)

Om jag ska beskriva Living Green utifrån Edits perspektiv så skulle jag säga att ambitionen är att motivera 90 procent av de kvinnliga konsumenterna att göra 10 procent grönare val i sin vardag. Det ger positiva effekter på miljö, hälsa och på plånboken. LivingGreen.se är vidare oberoende och partipolitiskt helt obunden. Living Green vänder sig främst till miljömedvetna kvinnor i norden och vill hjälpa dem att få en grönare livsstil, utan att det blir för mycket. Inget "hard core" här inte! Utan det ska vara på lagom nivå så att det blir lätthanterligt, egentligen så ska det inte vara en så stor skillnad, utan man ska helt enkelt bara välja de ekologiska bananerna på frukthyllan istället för de besprutade. Det är ingen stor grej, men man måste få reda på de ekologiska alternativen och det hjälper Living Green dig med. 

Om jag ska beskriva företaget utifrån en anställds perspektiv blir det lite svårt då Living Green inte har någon anställd. Men jag skulle gissa att en anställd skulle beskriva Living Green med samma ord som jag beskrev innan (utifrån en VDs perspektiv). Jag kan alltså inte heller svara på frågan i fall någon anställd är med i ett fackförbund.


Den sista frågan lyder: Vad anser vd:n om företagsklimatet i Sverige? Hur anser hon att det har varit tidigare? Och med det sagt skulle jag vilja be om att få återkomma med svaret i morgon. Då jag har gått hem för dagen och inte vet svaret på rak arm, jag vill ju att svaret ska bli rätt.

Dag ett.

Dag ett. Nu har jag precis gått hem för dagen, började kl 9 och slutade kl 15 så det var en skön första dag. Jag praktiserar på företaget Living Green som är ett webbmagazin, en medlemsklubb och så har dem regelbundet olika event. Det handlar om att man ska börja leva mer grönt eller ekologiskt. I Living Green ingår också verktyget GreenTarget som hjälper dig att se hur du kan leva mer miljösmart. Principen är inte att se hur dålig man är på att leva tex miljösmart utan det GreenTarget gör att att det mäter din nuvarande nivå för att sedan visa hur du kan förbättra din livsstil. Självklart visar verktyget  också tydligt din förbättring. Ett mycket smart och motiverande sätt att ta tag i dagens miljöproblem! 

Jag har förr jobbat på många utav Linging Greens event så jag trodde mig ha bra koll på vad dem slysslar med.  Fast så var icke fallet, det visade sig finnas mycket mer att lära. Och jag lärde mig otroligt mycket, inte bara om vad Living Green gör utan även om hur man startar ett eget företag, vad som krävs och vad för typ av problem man kan stöta på (för att nämna några: stämningar, folk som snor idéer, resurser, tidspress, kompetens mm.) Mycket intressant! 

Dagen började då med en kort presentation om Living Greens historia och framväxt och under tiden drog Edit (grundaren och min handledare) paralleller om företagsamhet i sig, vad man bör tänka på, akta sig för etc. 

Sedan blev det full rulle och Edit satte igång med allt och lite till (otroligt mycket att göra innan event) och jag fick mitt schema för veckan. Den uppgift jag fick jobba med idag och ska jobba med under hela veckan var att leta reda på internationella "gröna" bloggar. Det tog tid och var i början svårt då jag inte kunde se skillnaden på sajter, webbmagazine och bloggar. Det är helt otroligt vad allt online smälter ihop i varandra! Men med tiden lärde jag mig och det gick snabbare att bearbeta sajterna, och när det gick snabbare blev det roligare. Men när jag väl börjat lära mig det kom nästa svårighet... Och det var när jag skulle leta efter de finska bloggarna. Jag förstådd tyvärr inte så mycket och det blev väldigt svårt att veta om jag hittat rätt. Vid sådana tillfällen bugar och bockar man för google translate. Så det problemet löste sig också. Suveränt!

De kommande dagarna kommer jag att få vara med på en del möten, skriva annons texter och om det finns tid över ska jag få leta upp nya internationella designers som jobbar med miljövänliga material och motivera varför jag valt just dem. 

Jag ser mycket fram emot denna vecka! Det kan ju inte annat än borda gott när man har ett sådant här schema och en så otroligt härlig handledare!
